I give my snakes 3-4 days to digest before handling them after a meal. After they eat they will tend to hide for a few days. Since you just got this corn snake, I would suggest you leave it alone until it has acclimatized to it's new surroundings for at least a week or so. Corn snakes need to thermoregulate since they are cold-blooded, this means they like to bask in the sun, so I wouldn't call them nocturnal. They just like to hang out in their hides a lot. Snakes have a very slow metabolism and don't tend to waste much energy, so if they aren't hunting for food they will usually find a place to hang out. Not to say that they won't move about the enclosure, but more often than not they will just be curled up somewhere, thinking about advanced algebra and contemplating deep philosophical snake ideas .

You should not hold a snake after it has eaten for about 4 day at least that's what i do with my corn. Also you don't really play with a snake and i am not sure about them being nocturnal i just hold mine when i feel like it, when i am cleaning his vivarium and long enough to put him in his feeding tub and then to put him back in his enclosure.
Two days is probably fine, but just don't hold him right after he eats, he might regurgitate and that is a violent process for there little body's to go through because they don't have the muscles to make stuff come up, they only have them to swallow. Good Luck!

Leave your new friend alone for a week to let him get used to the new set up. Then you can pick your snake up any time you like-but make sure to wake him first. Before I grab any of my snakes during the day, I make sure to nudge them a bit first to wake up and not be so startled when I pick them up. Otherwise there can be a bit of a freak out.

Depending on the size of the meal, your snake may be quiet for 2-3 days and then gradually become more active. Once they become active and a few days after they poop, it's time to feed again.l

They usually start to stir at 7pm and its quite normal for snakes to hide hence why most are nocturnal. Always wait two days before handling your snake otherwise you might cause your snake to regurge the prey.

If you asked this question, then you did not do any research on owning a reptile, and such should not own one, but since you have it, Read, ask experts, go find an expert, learn before doing. Reptiles do not play, are not meant to be pets and if mishandled, or abused will bite, can get mites, will die from mistreatment and unknowlegeable people
