It's almost certain that someone is visiting bad sites loaded with malware.
Firstly add 'Scandoo' to you IE7 browser search engines and all bad sites will be flagged as you search. Either that or just Search for Scandoo and conduct your searches through that.
Secondly, copy the following and paste the following into your address bar and it'll take you to microsoft's Safety scan page where you can give your PC the once over now and then.
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-gb/default.htm.
Download Microsoft's Defender and at least set it to run in the background (the scheduled scan can be resource heavy - switch that off if you want).
Download Ad-Aware antispyware. If possible, also free trial Grisoft's Antispyware.
In addition, you might consider restricting the type of website that can give you problems. X rated sites and some music and games sites as well as movies and warez sites.

We sometimes have similar problems when my sisters kids use this PC my nephew had the habit of cancelling my anti virus update if it starts to update when he switches the machine on cos he is too impatient to wait for it to do its thing caught him the other morning doing it and told him to stop doing it or he will be banned and also they keep on dowloading trial versions of games so you get pop ups every few minutes asking if you would like to buy a activation number for some poxy game that I was not aware of having on the hard drive short answer dont let them go no your PC / LAPTOP then if the problem stops you have your cause easy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would suggest that the person is looking up bad websites. right click on 'my computer' and select search, then type 'history' into the search panel. this will find all of the history logs on your pc. look through them to see what websites people have been on.
