I want to start sewing and making my own clothes eventually, but i was wondering if anyone could give me basic steps on how to make a pair of curtains? For a starter project

I'm still at that beginning stage but I have made curtains easy. I just used single bed sheet. They come in some amazing colours and patterns. You can just sew the tops to allow room for the rod or better still sew on a header tape and use slide in pins supplied by the sewing shop where they will advise you on the different types as there are lots possibly the ring type will be the easiest. So have fun and when you have more practise you can always undo the sheets and use them as before and start from scratch with curtain material but it can get costly so get in some practise before you start on a really big project but it's a lot of fun even the simple things. For a start get really organized a corner or a room for sewing is good as you will need a lot of spots to put all the things and colours you will be using.

That's an easy one.

Measure your windows
decide on fabric and how much bunching do you want in your curtains,
Hem all for sides but hem the top wide enough to feed your curtain rod through, don't forget to leave the sides of the top hem open.

I would wash your fabric first just in case it shrinks, you don't want it shrinking after you have done all your sewing.

measure your window frame from left to right . then measure from top to bottom, x times these measurements, will give the sq ft you will need, add one and half times the cloth,
then cut in half , then measure 3inchs fro mthe top to give you a hem, to fit in your rod , you can use the same cloth to make a tie back, and remmber that most window s in the same house should be the same measurements .
