Check out the River Valley theres a zoo there also. Whyte ave and Old Strathcona in general lots of bars and entertainment. (nothing even close in Calgary) Underground lrt downtown with access to all of the shopping while staying indoors. Lots of theatres in the downtown. Pick up an issue of See magazine and I'll give you a zillion dollars if you can squeeze in half of the shows listed at any given time. Science centre is cool on 111 ave. If you dig shopping Edmonton is where its at. Theres a ton of malls here. Theatre and symphony galore. The waterpark at WEM (the mall that ate a city) is huge esp the waves. Hawrelak park is nice. Theres the old airport with museum right in the middle of the city, Depending on the season theres Edgefest, Folkfest, Fringefest, Kidsfest, EdmontonEX (klondike days) Farmers markets, Chinatown for eats, a paddlewheeler on the river, about ten casinos, golf out the ying-yang, museums, the provincial legislature is worth a visit, the restored train runs over the high level bridge seasonally, on and on. Remember what Granny used to say; "only boring people are bored."

Edmonton has a professional Canadian Football League (CFL) football team, the Edmonton Eskimos, and a professional National Hockey League (NHL) ice hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers. There is also a minor league baseball team.
The Eskimos ("Esks") play football at Commonwealth Stadium and tickets for almost any game can be purchased at the gate for $15 - $50
The Oilers play hockey at Rexall Place, and tickets may need to be purchased in advance from Ticketmaster.
In Calgary
The olympic park, the zoo, downtown has very nice restaurants, or again go see the Flames play..........sorry I'm Canadian I love hockey!
Have fun

I am from Calgary, so by nature I am not a big fan of Edmonton. Personally I think it's a boring city.
But here in Cow Town we have lots to do. If you come in July you can go to the Calgary Stampede (very very fun!!), there is a really nice zoo here, you could take a day trip to Banff and visit the hot springs, you can go to the top of the Calgary tower and have lunch in the revolving resturant, go down to the Saddle dome and watch the Flames kick the Oilers ***!!
There is so much you can do in any city, they all have something to offer. I would just get a city guide when you get here and see where the wind takes you.
Good Luck! I hope you have a great trip.

I'm from Toronto. I've been to both cities. I love Calgary, there is lots to do there. You will have no problem amusing yourself. As for Edmonton, besides a mall there is not much to do.
