They are going through a contest to choose which real life town of Springfield is going to be where the Simpsons live. What are your feelings about it.

It was prudent to use "Springfield". Owing to the number of cities using this moniker, it has always had the element of suspense as to which is the "real" Springfield,which is a bonus to the producers. Betcha you'd find the "Simpsons" in most localities, regardless of the title. Perhaps this accounts for it's popularity, we're seeing ourselves in the characters.

Yes. It pretty much spoils the fun of trying to figure out which Springfield the Simpsons. But, in the episode "The Italian Bob", Homer says that the Springfield they live in was in Kentucky

I think it's a fun idea because not only do the fans not only know what state The Simpsons live in, but the animators also.

No, you got it wrong. That's only where the movie premier is. That doesn't mean it's the official location once and for all.
