I listed an item on ebay, after the auction ended, ebay cancelled the listing because the user was unaware of what was happening. After awhile I received an email from e-bayhelpdesk@accountant.com saying the user account has been reactivated.

I also received emails from service@paypal.co.uk® saying "We have receive an order from our client regarding the payment made to your paypal account. The payment has been successfully made but due to security reason we have to receive the shipment tracking number before the next 24hour for the processing of your order. This a new measure we are taking to protect both our sellers and buyers against fraudlent customers. Once you have shipped the item send us the shipment tracking number for verification after the number has verify your account will be credited instantly.

I've never experienced somethin like this with Paypal. And what's with the scammers who want the item sent to Nigeria?

There are 3 main types of paypal scams 1 - they send you spoof paypal emails linking to a spoof paypal site saying there is money in your account, but it was never sent, and by logging into that linked site, you just gave your login details to a scammer 2 - they are using a hacked paypal acct, often someone who fell for #1 or another phishing scam, and when the real acct holder discovers the theft, paypal refunds the money from you 3 - they have a real paypal but if you send it overseas you can't get a proof of delivery unless you send thru DHL or FedEx, so they claim they never received it, you have no proof it was actually delivered, and Paypal refunds them

It could be a Scam. Your description is long yet incomplete. A friend of mine "sold" a Laptop through ebay, sent it to Nigeria, and never received the money... Maybe Ebay is trying to avoid this problem asking for more details now. But to be sure do not reply or click the links on suspicious emails i know there are scam-emails from Paypal and Ebay i have received them to.
Hint : Point your mouse over the link in those emails and see the information displayed at the bottom bar of your browser, it will tell you the address it's trying to reach. If it's a scam, the address wont start with the legitimate website address, ex :

http://www.aol.com/ams/clickThruRedirect.adp?1073762100,2147779757x2147568413,http://216.253.136.134:84/page/update_full/primapagina.htm

That address is an actual example i received in such scam-emails in the name of paypal. Try following it and see what it shows, but do not procceed further is not the official Paypal as i told you.

definitely forward the e-mail to ebay. when in doubt, write to them yourself to verify. ebay would never send you an e-mail from accountant.com or anyone else other than ebay.com.

scam. always go to your ebay site or paypal directly to see your account activity. it's funny, they usually always mis-spell just one word.. but yeah. don't send anything unless you get the money first!!
