Well I am 32 weeks pregnant and I have been having mild to moderate pains in my lower abdomen as well. I talked to my Dr. today at my prenatal visit and she said that they were round ligament pains. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless they get really painful. These pains are due to your insides stretching, basically making more room for baby and getting ready for delivery. The only way they will do an ultrasound in the third trimester is if they think that there is a problem with the baby. They should have checked for any abnormalities already. Congrats and Good Luck.

I am 33 weeks pregnant and get period type pains on a regular basis. It is where your pelvis is relaxing and opening up slightly in preperation for the birth. Just be careful not to over exert yourself (no running for buses!) because you could really open the pelvis up, which hurts a lot for the rest of your pregnancy.

And, no, a third trimester scan is not normal. The 20 week scan checks for abnormalities. After that, you only have a scan if you have problems like a low lying placenta, or your measurements don't seem right.

It's usually nothing to worry about, but still keep in touch with your doctor.
Have a look at the link below that describes tummy cramping during pregnancy.
I remember in the last trimester and post-30 weeks feeling all sorts of sensations.

How uncomfortable is that!! Your hormones are in overdrive and as baby grows it's only natural everything seems squished. Your discomfort will continue I imagine until baby is born and then the real pain will start - sleepless nights and the constant worry - am I doing things right?

Seriously though this all sounds normal to me. As you come closer to your birth date the cramps could intensify. Good practise for whats to come. Good luck and I hope you have an easy labour.

cramps very low and pressure in the labia can mean that you possilbely have a bladder infection. Pregnancy women are prone to bladder infections and they can actually be the cause of premature labour. I would just go to er and say you are worried about cramps, they will do a urine sample and if it is an infection.. they can perscribe a safe percription for you. This happened to me and is apparently common and can caught in time

I'm amazed your doctor didn't give you an explanation. Your body is growing and changing and cramping is from the same organs while you're on your period. I'm guessing it's just a normal part of some pregnancies.

Could be round ligament pain, which is your body stretching and growing. It also could early signs of Braxton Hicks which are practice contractions in preperation for real labor. You wil often get cramping and/or pain on one side or in your lower abdomen and even some tightening in your abdomen.

They only give you two scans unless youve had problems with the pregnancy. If you keep on they will eventually see you and scan you again. I was having bad pains on my second pregnancy when i was about 30 weeks and they checked me as i rang hostpital. Baby was fine tho. Im on my third pregnancy now and have had fluid complications. Ive had 3 scans already and they wont see me till april to check my fluid levels. its ridiculous really if youve got worries they should check you out.

I've felt that, too, with each of my pregnancies. I don't know why it is, but I know it's normal. My guess is that it might be b/c of your uterus stretching, the baby moving, the general discomfort that accompanies pregnancy & the extra weight you are carrying. Also b/c you are close to the end, it could be braxton hicks (sp?) contractions.
