It is about record to an extent... at least more than it was last year. Remember the uproar about Dallas facing San Antonio in the 2nd round? Personally I didn't really care, because we were bound to see this matchup eventually in the playoffs.

Now though, they fixed it so that the top 4 seeds will be the three division winners and the best 2nd place team... BUT they're seeded in the order of their record. So the 2nd best team with a better record than the other two division winners can get a #2 seed rather than being stuck with a #4.

It's improved, not perfect, but there won't be as many problems as there were last year.

One team from each division needs to make it, but after that, I don't like the way that they seed the teams. They do it as the division leaders get the top four and then whoever has the best record after that gets the 5th seed and so on. They should do it as whoever has the best record gets the best seed, but each division has at least one.

It is dumb how each confernce should have one team in the playoffs but it is better how the seedings are based on record regardless of if they won their division

yeah its been screwed up since they made 3 divisions per confrence. They should stick to two .. however you should reward a team for winning the divsion.
