I just flushed my radiator and am trying to figure out how much dex-cool to put in? 2001 chevy impala.
Is Prestone Dex-Cool okay? It has the GM logo on it. 50/50

One thing that everyone forgets after they flush a radiator and go to add antifreeze is that there is still that pesky coolant left in the engine. Then they add a 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and wonder why (if they check the concentration) it isn't 50/50 after running for a while. The only way I've ever found to get the coolant out of the engine is to park it nose down hill and jack the rear end up as high as possible with the lower radiator hose disconnected so the engine can drain. Once you've got it drained THEN you can get a correct concentration of coolant in it.

dex cool is great stuff, check the bottle you buy as some antifreeze is pre mixed and some is full strength. usually one gallon full strength or two gallons pre mixed is enough. If you mix your own, be sure to use distilled water. Fill it up to the top then run the engine till the thermostat opens up when hot and top off. Then put the cap on and be sure to check it the next day when its cool. Also make sure you use the correct antifreeze. Green should be changed every year, pink or orange colored is good for a few years. Dont mix the two. There is a special yellow colored antifreeze to use if you dont know that mixes with any antifreeze. Read the bottle.

prestone dexcool is fine. if you buy the 50/50, you should take almost 2 gallons.
