Cucumbers soaked in brine, or a very salty water. Sometimes the pickles are sweet, and sometimes they are dill.
Kosher pickles are prepared according to laws established by the Talmudic law or Quranic law. Chassid and Orthodox Jews will only choose products which have the little U with the circle around it. This stands for Union of Orthodox Rabbis.

When most people think of pickles they think of pickled cucumbers. You can really pickle a lot of things though besides that.
