it is strange, but it is their child and their decision. next time they bring up the name just say, ya i like that name but everytime you say it i think of my dog. they also might change their mind before the baby is born. suggest your opinion of names and see if they like any of your suggestions.

I love the name Angel for a girl. How ironic that you and your brother have the same taste in names. Tell them your dog was already named that when you got it. Perhaps you can refer to your dog as Angel Dog or Angel Girl, when the baby comes. You chose the name first. Be satisfied with that.

I like that name a lot, but I think I'd use the long form to give the child options when she gets older, like name her Angelica or Angeline or Angelina, and they could still call her Angel for short! It's not a strange name at all! Your dog is lucky, better than Fido!

I have always had a problem with names like Angel and Heaven.. cause usually they turn out to be awful.. lol. Not saying that is always the case.. just with the few girls I know. My biological brothers wife is named Angel.. and that is not what I think of her at all. But if they know it is your dog's name.. why would they want to name her that?

I understand what you are saying, but I've known quite a few people named Angel.
My son named his daughter Isabella and calls her Bella. He had a dog before her that was very special to him and called her Belle. I really didn't like him naming his daughter after his dog. But, she's 4 years old now and I love her more than anything in the world.
I still think about his dog Belle alot though when I'm babysitting my grandaughter, Bella.

You don't tell them. It's their choice. Your dog is named Angel. Great. If they are set on the name, you don't have a right to tell them to change it.
I'm sorry to say that your dog isn't going to live as long as their daughter/son (hopefully).

Just tell them how you feel and that if they do, when ever you go to their place, or they go to yours it could get a little confusing when you are calling your dog and the child thinks you are calling her, but this only a small matter, so do not let this frustrate you to much. It could make life interesting. I don't think it is weird, it just is a great name, try and be happy about this little Angel coming into your life.
