Book called "Law of Attraction"
Because you are sending out a signal to these men (that your not aware of) and attracting then based on how you feel about your self, or you want to try and help and fix them, or , or, or, --- the list goes on and on.
If we think about something long enough about what we don't want, that's exactly what we end of getting. Instead of focusing and putting all your energy into something that you want, we tend to focus on what we don't want , thus we get what we don't want.

#1) you are aware that you are attracting the same type over & over. First step to acknowledge. Good for you.
#2) Now you need to change yourself, how you think, act, respond, etc
#3) forget about any other guy until you find out more about yourself, what are you doing to contribute to attracting the wrong guys? Yes this is the one main question that you will have to work on for some time to really get a good answer. You need to do some soul searching, you might need to resolve some hidden or buried emotions from your past.
#4) Its very hard to make a change in yourself- its alot of mental work involved and its not an over nite success, but it can be done if you are willing and truely want to change.

So forget about guys, its time to find yourself. They say that opposites attract. EX: your weak, your going to attract a predator, you fall for another person based on his weakness, thinking that you can help him, etc, thus he traps you in his world of disorder. The list goes on, & on
Until you make a change, you will keep attracting the same type.
Until you move yourself up the totem pole, (self-esteem, self-image, self-confidence, everthing is self...) your just at the bottom with the same type of people.
You will find a big difference in the men you attract, after you have worked on yourself.
There are lots of info on google search: Why do we chose the same type of men??

UPDATE: I just received in my email newsletter:
Are you aware of ALL the power you have
with men? How to talk so men will listen,
and listen so men will talk. Your secret
weapon is here:

gosh, people can be so rude.. that guys answer 't'd" me off!
Anyhow, I have a couple of different takes on this type of situation, because it is so common for women and men to do this type of thing.
opinion #1--You are trying to fill the void of somthing that you were deprived of when you were young, or you are trying to fill the void of somthing that you regularly had in your childhood that you no longer have. Example: a person had A father who was abusive and an alcoholic who constantly put you down as a child. As an adult, you find yourself dating an abusive alcoholic who is constantly apologizing for what he did and trying to convince you how much he loves you and needs to be with you.. You fill one void by dating the same kind of guy your father was, but fill the other void by staying with him because he is telling you things you want to hear..
Opinion #2--sometimes its just because you never learned from the other experiences. To me, when you get out of a relationship, it should be a red flag for you to "learn your lesson" and move on. However some people are more insecure than others and are afraid that they aren't good enough to do so, then they find themselves with the same type of person over and over again,.
If it is insecurity that you beleive is keeping you coming back to the same type of person, then you need to surround yourself with different people who love you for who you are. Stay single for a while, get a new hairdo, buy a new outfit and go out on the town and strut your stuff! Find a way to get your confidence back. If its not a self esteem issue, then talking to a therapist is always helpful. It doesn't mean your crazy, a therapist will help you sort through your emotions and get to bottom of why you do such things.

Because you are into abuse and self deprivation. You like the concern your friends show you, and you feel that is the only way someone can love you. Basically you are retarded.
