I have stored 250 mp3 songs on a data cd. A data cd can hold about 650 mb. An audio cd holds about 75 minutes.
Physically they are the same disk. It is just the recording method. Only the newer CD players can play a data/mp3 disk.

regular 80 min. cd-r's can hold about 120 songs if you burn it as a data disc as opposed to a music disc. that is only to store them though because you can only play them on mp3 enabled stereos or else just on your computer. it's a good way to back up songs though.
