My parents have internet on cable on our family desktop. I have a little laptop with wireless capabilities. My family lives on the outskirts of a medium sized city. How can I connect just for the summer months?

You can go buy a wireless router, and get wireless for all the home computers. Or you can just connect the laptop with a addon net card...which would be a lot cheaper. Just plug it into the router that is already there.

You would need to buy a wireless router. One that would let them connect directly to it and one that you can use wirelessly.
if you have an apple go for an apple product. If a pc anyone will really do.

buy a wireless router and buy a couple of cheap usb wireless adapters for the whole clan ...
