We just got a new diesel fuel tank and we can't figure out how to wire it up. There was no power cord on it, just a black wire and a white wire but the extentension cord has 3 wires a black wire, a white wire and a green wire. I wired black to black and white to white and left the green one off. When we first turn it on, you can hear a low humming sound but then it stops. Should the green and white wire be wired up to the white wire?

The green wire should be connected to the tank. Black to black, white to white.

well I really dont know what to tell ya about the wiring but I will say this usually the black wire is hot and the white wire is neutral and the green witreis always a ground wire thats tied directly to a metal rod that goes at least 6 feet under the ground. now most of these pumps have a pressure switch on them and when you first hear the motor it only runs till the pressure is up and then the pump quits. maybe shes a running right and yall dont realize it. please get a guy out there who hooks those up if you aint sure. you could blow the dang thang up.
