Do you have any ideas?

Pick something that interests you. Maybe you like gardening. You can show how plants grow in different types of soil.

My son once did a science project on who has the dirtier mouth, a dog or human baby. He took swabs in the mouth of his baby sister and our 2 dogs. He used prepared petri dishes he got from the local community college to grow bacteria cultures from the swabs. This took several weeks to grow good cultures. The dogs had dirtier mouths.

Good luck.

For young grades, the judges just look for cool, new ideas. My daughter just placed 2nd in a science fair for 1st through 4th graders.

Her topic was on light. A friend of hers got 3rd in the topic of trying to find a way to make her dad stop snoring!

Be original, and have fun...and yes, take your sisters advice...start early, you will be happy to get it done with.

Seems a bit ahead of time.

What you can do is start thinking about what you're interested, and think for a while about different things and whether you'd like to do something on them.

But don't actually START a project.

Ask your third grade teacher, a fourth grade teacher at your school or a school guidance counselor.

They will be able to offer the best advice concerning your school.

Good Luck and enjoy the third grade--life is too short as it is.

Volcanoes are cool, but too common.Try inventing something creative, like a device that helps people. Like an automatic machine. But,if you want something a little easier for your age..I suggest some toy that kids would like
