How do you go about clearing the memory card for a PS1?

I purchased this system used and the card is filled.

when you turn on the system with no game in it, it will go to a screen that looks kinda gray and you'll see a representation of your memory card.

it should be sort of lit up

push X to select it, and you'll be able to see what files are on the card. push left and right to go through them.

when you want to delete one, push X again, and you'll see options

turn the system on without a game in click on the memory card and delete what you want to that simple
