What are you washing them with? If you're just using detergent, that won't cut it. Most laundry detergents contain very cheap perfume. Perfume just covers up the smell, it doesn't remove strong odors like diesel, or body odor.

Try using ammonia, baking soda, or borax. These substances will acutally change the polarity (deionize) your wash water. Let me know if this solves your problem. I welcome email and instant messages.

First off, stay away from diesel fuel. I would try washing with purex, they make one to use in the washer for all fabrics. If that isn't something you want to use the plain old fashion borax with your laundry soap will also work.

Pre-soak the clothes in a borax and water solution at least overnight. Follow the directions for dilution on the package. Before you wash the next day, rinse the clothes in a baking soda water solution and then wash as you normally would.
