Connecting my laptop to my TV with S-Video cables?

.I have a toshiba laptop with s-video to s-video cords. I have everything plugged in correctly but my tv just says "Unusable Signal" The audio works great, but I don't know how to get the video to work. Any suggestions?

u need to switch between displays on the laptop ... if its ati rytclick the ati icon in the taskbar and under schemes switch amongst displays ...
