The Bahamas mostly uses the Imperial & US Imperial Unit system rather than the metric system.

Both the Imperial units and U.S. customary units derive from earlier English units. Imperial units were mostly used in the British Commonwealth and the former British Empire. The Bahamas was a former British Colony.

The metric system is a decimalised system of measurement based on the metre and the gram. In the Bahamas we refer to different units with different conversion factors, such as inches, feet, yards, ounces and pounds.
