Send a thank you note for the interview and restate that you look forward to working for the firm.

Don't say thank you for hiring me. You know you are qualified, that is why you applied and got hired. It's not a favor they did for you so don't thank them for hiring.

It's different to thank them for their time for the interview.

Do either (a) call, or (b) email your boss. It shows your excited. Also (if in a professional-type field) it wouldn't hurt to ask if there were any books or web site resources you could over in the two weeks before you start to help you hit that first day running and fully informed.

NO NO!!! Dont do that. Just go in and than when you get the moment tell him you appreciate the opportunity to work in this company. Like a professional and that way you will have thanked him and at the same time you wont be sucking up because your a good employee and he should be happy to have you.

Because if you call, its like saying "OH MY GOD...I was dying for a job and nobody was hiring me cause Im in competant, thank God you saved my life.

I think that if its sincere, it would be ok to call your new boss and thank him. I'd also ask some business related question that might not be clear after your conversation (about what you'll do), so you also show that you're interested in the challenge ahead.

Send a thank you note to him by mail as long as HR knows you accepted the job and will be starting. It gives you the opportunity to show you are a nice person - with manners and looking forward to your new opportunity! And avoids talking to him for two weeks.

Congrads!

Congratulations! You can write a letter to the company thanking them for their vote of confidence. I would suggest this course of action over calling your new boss, calling could sound like grovelling.
