It's a game where you are much like a character from a book or film (think Lord of the Rings), you pretty much control everything he/she does, ranging from fighting beasts with weapons to shopping and socialising.

RPG or "role playing games " like Final fantasy , warcraft , and oblivion, allow the player to build his character, he/she can choose what missions to do at what time, (It's like being a commander of armies , monies, weapons , and techs at your disposal.).... that is an RPG
IT"S , playing the character of the game.

You have control of one character and decide on what you want to do how to get the objectives done until the end of a game. Also, most games would have you level up to different levels and you can obtain different armor or weapons.
