If you have already signed up with an ISP for internet then it is pretty east. First, connect the router to the DSL line (through the phone line with phone/dsl splitters on it). Connect the router to a computer with a wired connection at first so you can access it. Plug in and turn on the router. If there is any software with it, install it before turning on the router unless otherwise instructed. Once it has connected, you can probably access the settings page by typing 192.168.1.1 into your internet browser. Play around with the settings. Make up an SSID and a WPA key. Using XP's wireless network connection window, search for your network, then enter the WPA key into it. It should now connect wirelessly.

The reason I say WPA as opposed to WEP is that WPA is the best encrytion method - WEP is easily crackable.

did you buy the router from some crack head, for 10 bucks, these things come with a 1800 number, they will guide you step by step, use it get your money worth, unless you got it form "crack head willie"

Yah, normally you just run the software that comes with it and it coaches you through the install.
