Well, I have not been that route by train but I did go from Palmdale, Ca. to Marysville, Wa.(North of Seattle) by car, so I can tell you the scenery was GORGEOUS. When in Seattle go on the underground tour if you are not claustrophobic, do the harbor tour, and of course see the space needle, If heights are the reason you do like to fly, the space needle is fine to see from the ground too. I hate heights, but went up there anyway.

Never gone from Southern California to Seattle. But My dad lives in Northern California by the bay area and I used to take the train from Seattle to n. cal to visit him. That part of the leg was fun. It was on the Amtrak. Not as fancy as some of the trains that go from west coast to say the east coast. They dont have any individual sleeping berths. It is more like a room with oversized chairs where other people are. Definately a lot more comfortable then a greyhound bus. As you can get up and walk around, and have a beer if you want, or get snacks. But it does take a while.

I would want to fly, but if i could not, I would take the train over a bus anyday! Plus if you have not done it, it is quite the adventure! You get to see the beautiful scenary along the way and the underbellys of every city you come into! Quite a paradox!

Washington is just a big and all know town and is unquestionably worthy send a vacation or just visit that city. with hotelbye you'll discover more. One of many symbols of Washington and the whole America could be the famous White House, the official house of the President of the United States. The house of each and every president except George Washington, it had been formerly built by James Hoban in 1792, and following being burned down by British forces in 1814 was rebuilt in 1818. While excursions of the interior including the East, Blue, Green, and Red Rooms; the Ballroom; and the State Dining Room must be reserved properly ahead of time, every tourist to Washington may wish to see that famous building, at least from the outside. Nearby to the White House are the elaborate 1833 Greek Revival Treasury Building and the 1871 Executive Office Building, one of the very most striking old government buildings in Washington.

Well I can't tell you about traveling by train on the West coast, but I traveled different times on the East coast (Atlanta to Baltimore), so I can't tell you about the scenery in the area to which you are referring. I can tell you that I traveled by Amtrak and thoroughly enjoyed it.
They have the cars with large, comfortable chairs from which you can enjoy the scenery. Unless it has changed or just different on the West coast, they have sleeping berths. They are small but you figure you are just going to use it for sleeping any way. And the "clack, clack, clack" sound from the train going over the rails sure lulled me to sleep. You don't share your sleeping berth with other passengers, if you are wondering that (unless you want to - tee hee). It does cost more for a sleeping berth but you can easily sleep in the comfortable chairs I mentioned earlier.
They have dining cars and lounge cars where you can enjoy a good meal or have a few drinks. I always found other passengers very amiable, friendly, and interesting.
Overall, I found the trips I made by train very enjoyable.
I would suggest calling the train station closest to you and find out about their rates, accommodations, and schedules so you can be better informed.
