Okay, so she's at the guys brothers office right? Then she finds out he's dead. Then she remembers the guy that walked in the street and got hit by the truck (before she meets him) and realizes it was him. So she runs back and tells him to wait with the letter. Then, since he survived he waits, and then when he reaches that day in his time, he drives to see her (which is like 2 yrs). It's not like he was magically transported through time.

She only had to wait a few minutes, but after seeing her letter, he waited two years to drive up to the lake house and meet her. I don't know if that makes sense. It's been a while since I've seen it. You could try reading the book, which I am fairly sure is by James Patterson. That would probably explain it better.

Did you ever see his face lying there in the street?

Well, neither did she.

She only imagines that he was that guy that day.

She suddenly thinks she could be wrong and poof magically he is healed.

It never happened. Someone else died that day, not him.

He stayed away for her for two more years just to be certain.

IDK... time travel is a confusing thing so I'm guessing that the only way that question can be answered is for the author to tell us, 'cause I really want to know.
