My doctor thought I would never dialate or anything I was 38 weeks when I barely starting dialating. At 39 weeks she forced it to a centimeter, and scrapped my membranes. It hurt but well worth it. I went into labor that next day at 5 am. Good Luck to you.

Sometimes the baby doesn't drop until you go into labor. You don't have to be effaced or anything to go into labor sometimes it all happens at the same time. And sometimes you can walk around 5 centimeters dilated for weeks. Labor is a crazy thing your body will do what it wants!
If you are really uncomfortable and you have some swelling and your back hurts ect... you may be able to convince your doctor to induce labor at 38 or 40 weeks. When you complain get very emotional it worked for me at 39 weeks. Good luck!!!

HA, I hear ya. However you could be a "quick" delivery person. It may happen over night for you. Some woman it takes months, some it takes days others it takes hours.
All pregnancies and all woman are not the same so it is no one's guess on here to say just how long it will take you. But remember this, for as anxious as you are to get the baby out, enjoy your time right now and just use these last few weeks to get as MUCH rest and peace as you can. It will come all in good time, if there is cause for alarm the doctors will induce. I wish this on noone as the intense pain, but it is a probablity.

Best wishes...join other pregnant moms

This means nothing at 36 weeks. Tomorrow you can drop and be effaced and dilated to 3. It happens.

Most likely at 38 weeks you will drop and by 39 weeks efface.
Relax you have a whole month to even worry about this.

I totally understand not wanting to be 42 weeks. I was 44weeks with my first (Almost lost him and me) 421/2 and 42 with the 3rd. But this was rare to go 44 weeks. They had a bunch of c-sections and the hosptial in trouble with investagtions so they held off with me at my time. 22 yrs ago.

Well, unfortunately, it's not up to you. You have to wait for labour to start and there is nothing that you can do to hurry things up.
Just take each day as it comes.
