People because we elect the president. And the majority of people picked this president or else he wouldn't be in office.

The president is much more powerful than the people. In Nov. 2006 Bush had a popularity rating of only 35%. That means that 65% disapproved, but Bush got to just keep on doing whatever Bush and Bush's cabinet wanted to do for the next 2 years before the next presidential election in Nov. 2008. Including vetoing a bill that the "people's representatives," want to pass to withdraw troops in Iraq by a date certain. Clearly, even if that is what the "people," want, the President has the power to prevent it unless the president agrees.

Right now Prof. Levinson has a book out there calling for an increase in majoritarian democracy in our constitution, arguing similarly with you that the majority of the people's will should have more power and that the current constitution and government are undemocratic and require reform.

the people dont have the ability to wipe entire countries off of the planet and he does with an instant command. He doesnt need congress or the senate to decide what military decisions he can make. But with everything else; the people would have more power.

The President is more powerful. we have Congress and the Senate as a way to keep the Presidents powers in check. However when we have a President like Bush even Congress can do little to keep him in check. If he had more power Bush would definitely become a Dictator.
