I am a second time mom to a beautiful 7 month old son who came at 34 weeks. My daughter never screamed, so I am at a total loss and at my WITS END!!

He screams, all the time! And its not a little scream, no, its as loud as he possibly can and the pitch is piercing and painful. I am just waiting for CPS to show up and see if we are beating him, because thats what it sounds like! He does it if he is happy, sad, board, etc. I have no idea how to make him stop. If I ignore him he screams louder, if I firmly tell him 'no', he laughs and does it again.

Any time he starts to babble, my husband and I really pay a lot of attention to him, we babble back in earnest trying to show him that babbles get attention where screaming does not. I seriously need some help though, the high pitched, constant, ear splitting screaming is getting to be too much!! (Don't worry, I never want to hurt him or shake him or anything. It just makes me nuts and I feel sorry for our childless neighbors!))

Please, please......when you figure out how to get them to stop, let me know! My daughter screams all the time. She babbles, says a few words, etc. But her favorite thing is to scream bloody murder at the top of her lungs. I think it's just part of them learning the different sounds they can make. Hopefully, they'll both get over it before too long and learn something else. Good Luck!

I thought it was just my girls, I have never heard of my friend's kids doing this.My 7 month old twin girls scream at an ear piercing pitch, all day long, but it seems to be because they are excited and happy, not because something is wrong. It is so frustrating for my husband and I.We think that they are discovering their voices and that it will pass, we surely hope so. I feel I can't make them stop, when I say "no Screaming" they look at me and smile, I don't think they understand "no " yet, which is very hard because I feel you really can't do anything about it, I keep looking forward to this (hopefully a stage) passing.Hang in there, you're not alone and hope it gets better for you.

Ha Ha...I thought my 6 month old son was the only screaming child. I feel for you. I wish I knew how to stop it too. I think they just know that it gets to us. They think its funny to, if only they could hear what we hear. I usually just yell a little with him, but thats just during the day and thats just me. My mom said it just means they have good lungs. Then again maybe it is just a boy thing...lol...good luck!

My aunt broke down and cried after many hours of no-reason screaming. She called me because at that moment, she couldn't care for her baby and I offered to take him while for a couple of hours. When I got there, I consoled my aunt and my cousin saw how sad it made her and stopped. So my aunt did pretend sadness for a few days and eventually my cousin stopped. He was about 7 or 8 months.

I know your kid is different, but maybe it'll work? Otherwise, I really feel for you =(

YOU NEED A BREAK!!!!!! I had 2 children opposite's too. children today seem to be much more difficult. since he laughs at you and does it there is nothing wrong with him. You need to leave him for a bit. if he is testing you now wait till he turns into a teenager. take a break.

i'm pretty sure your baby is cholic (sp?). they're really gassy. try rubbing his belly or patting his back. it's good to carry them with their head at your shoulder. try to sing and the vibrations might help. that's all i can think of.
