i might be wrong,but this is like comparing two things but instead of writing long stories about ,you make it kind of short and poetry.be a little romantic about it,i mean let yourself go,delve deep into the subconscious of whatever theme you choose.for example,comparing fat and slim women,show the advantage and disadvantages of each,trying to favour the one you believe most.you dont have to follow popular opinion,you know.be yourself,it makes your poem more interesting.we dont all have the same ideas.so,comparative poems are written like every other poem you know,i mean in straight lines.the only difference is what exactly you are saying in your poem is comparing two or more things
