I am a RN being sued along with the hospital, dr and other nurses in a malpractice suit. If the jury decides for the plaintiff and my malpractice insurance from the hospital does not cover my full part of the award, can I lose my home and other assets?

Check with an attorney. But, I do believe that if your insurance is inadequate then there is a really GREAT chance you could loose everything.

I know that when you have lost the winners may file a lien against everything you have and request the courts make you pay up or sell.

Since this is a medical mal practice remember the appeals process.

I would ask an attorney in your area that can reliably answer that question.

Good Luck.

In most cases if the award is greater than what your insurance company covers, your insurance company will relay the amount covered or offer a settlement amount and get a signed release before they forward the check.

If your insurance company and your lawyer are not competant, you may be in trouble.
