if you just plant the seed right out of the peach it will take a VERY long time to germinate. try one or both of these..they have worked for me in the past: #1... lightly tap the seed with a hammer to crack it slightly...then put into a glass of water placed in a warm location. when root stem begins, plant into moist potting soil and place where it will get plenty of light. #2...put seed in your freezer for a week or two. it should crack on its own (you are simulating the natural freeze cycle that mother natue gives it). then do as stated for #1.

also as stated in some of the other answers, unless the peach is a "true" variety, (not a hybrid or has been grafted), it may not give you the same fruit as you ate.

IF i understand your question and what you are asking, yes a peach seed will germinate and grow however the resulting peaches this tree produces will probably be very poor quality.

Huh?

Can you plant a peach pit, sure.

Can you eat the peach seed? I wouldn't. They contain arsenic.........probably not enough to kill you, but we don't want you to take a liking to them. There's only one peach that you can eat the seed as the arsenic level is lower.

Give it a try.
Be aware, many seeds or pits from hybrid fruits are not viable.
You may get lucky, so to speak. ;-)
