1) Othello married Desdemona, because he supposedly wooed her by telling brabantio about the story of how she fell in love with Othello in the first place. Desdemona marrying Othello was a way of rebellion against her father by doing it behind his back. Iago's false rumors about Desdemona's affairs with Cassio caused Othello to want to kill her for being an adulterer Othello killed Desdemona at the end of the play as a result of being influenced by Iago into thinking that she was unfaithful to him.

2) Iago is a vile man. He symbolizes evil. Iago was jealous that Othello made Cassio Lieutenant instead of him. Thus, Iago made Othello develop jealously towards Desdemona as a way of hsowing how 'honest" he was, along with Othello eventually making him a "lieutenant" after Cassio was stripped of power due to drunkenness.

3) Othello was a valiant leader of the Venetian army, even though he was a Moor. Othello felt that Desdemona deceived him, because he was older than her as well as being "black", due to Iago's slander. He also used the hankerchief as a symbol of their relationship. However, when Emilia took it and gave it to Iago, Othello told Desdemona that the disappearance of the handerchief was a symbol of a failed marriage in his culture. Also, Desdemona calling Othello "my lord" shows that she was both loyal and fearful towards him.

I hope these responses help. I also think that if you look at the Sparknotes Online , they will provide you additional information about the play.

1.) It all goes pear shaped once he no longer trusts her...
2.) A bit of both...
3)Racism is key.

Read it repeatedly is my advice. Watch the movie too but be careful not to assume things in it are in the text. Or google it...
