snare, bass drum, 2-3 toms, hi-hat, and ride cymbal

those are the basic ones. some come with a double bass, 3-4 toms, and several ride cymbals varying in sound and size. it all depends on what you want and what you are looking for. most people start out with the basic drum set though.
