I was wandering to the gestational age measured by an ultrasound have anything to do with the start of your LMP or is it seperate and in no way connected.

It's not connected. The age they give you during the ultrasound is an estimate based on the baby's development. In the first trimester it's usually correct by a week, but later on it can be off by weeks.

I agree with Melissa's response...the EDD given by the ultrasound compared to the date of your LMP can be different as the ultrasound technician goes by your baby's development. The definate due date is something theorietically no mother will ever know which is why it's an Estimated Due Date, but the doctor could be right on the dot! For example, the date of my LMP was roughly 1st Feb, but hubby and I concieved our child on either the 14th, 15th or 16th of Feb because they were the dates we had unprotectedintercourse.....but they will still calculate my EDD from my LMP even though my baby wasn'tconceieved until after the date of my LMP......Hope that makes sense :) Good Luck!

if, for instance, after your calculations, it appeared that you're 13 weeks pregnant, the fetal age is actually 11 weeks old. 2 weeks account for the days between your LMP and the conception date which is not considered in the ultrasound since it only measures the baby's development.
