If you mix very small seeds with dry silver sand then it makes them far easier to sow.

You can mix them with sand but make sure the sand is very fine. I have also found it helpful to use a Q tip. I dip the DRY Qtip in the sand'n'seed mixture and then tap it into a slight depression (hole) I make with the end of a pencil in the dirt. I very carefully use the pencil to cover the hole up. (Hole should be very shallow, almost not noticeble.) You have to cover the seed and then gently tamp the dirt down with your finger. Use a fine spray water can so the seed doesn't wash away or water from the bottom up and just spray the top with a spray bottle to keep moist until the seed germinates.

Thin the seedlings when the second set of leaves appear by pinching (not plucking) the unwanted plants.

SOWING: Start seeds indoors in March or April. Or, sow directly outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Plant in sunniest spot of entire garden. Barely cover seeds with 1/8 inch of light soil. Firmly press seeds into soil. Cover flat or planting bed from light until seeds begin to germinate. Seeds need darkness to germinate. As soon as seeds germinate, uncover and provide plenty of light.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Plant or thin to 6-9 inches apart, when seedlings are one to two inches tall.

GERMINATION: Approximately 2 to 3 weeks or longer.

This colorful annual needs full bright sun. Soil should be well drained and not too fertile. Water sparingly throughout growing season. Ideal for rocky plantings, containers, hillsides and as summer annual ground cover.

You may be allowing the seeds to germinate in lighted area. Best of luck.

Just sprinkle on top of dirt in pots and gently keep them moist without flooding them and they should take. Do not bury them deep in the dirt if they are very small, only 1/8 inch should be deep enough. You will see them sprout after 1-2 weeks.

You do need to cover the seeds with dirt and fertilize them with Miracle Grow. Keep them watered but not too wet. Put them in a sunny place and watch them grow. Good Luck
