Remember your avatar is tiny so first impressions may not be what you want them to be! Not gonna make your complex any bigger (I hope!) maybe the hair needs to look a little different... in minature it looks like a turban to me so that may be what confused people. Sure you don't actually look masculine in the flesh!

The hair is a bit odd looking you look like a woman with a beehive or a man wearing a turban.Change the hair.

Well, with the shower towel on the head it sort of looks like a dude. After I looked really really close then I could tell it is a girl.

yeah it looks like a girl... i think if u just glance at it .. because of the hair being up it may look a bit like a boy... but don't feel bad.. i once drew a picture of a guy and someone saw it and they said oh, a cute little girl! i was a bit scared...
