If i was to get ahold of a seed from a bagel or something can i grow it and will it grow?

You can go to any store that sells seeds, and buy poppy seeds. You can grow any commercially sold poppies at your house. The opium poppy is a different variety and is not sold in packages to grow. It isn't against the law...unless you sell the seed or of course try making opium for consumption.
I have a few opium poppies growing in my garden because they are so beautiful. The seeds were GIVEN to me by a local nursery owner. When I asked her if I could buy a plant and she told me what they were, she told me that she would give me a few seeds as it was against the law for her to sell them. The process for extracting opium from a poppy is very difficult, and from what I understand, you must have an awful lot of plants to work with...as in acres of them.

No, the seeds on your bagel have been "fried" and are no longer alive. Ditto the ones on your spice rack.
You can find Ornamental or California Poppy seeds from the garden section of literally any store.

Probably not as bagels have likely ben baked sterilizing the seed in the cooking process.and too the police would take a dim view of poppies growing in your yard. opium is derived from poppies.

We have seed for growing poppies, check the seed catalogs. However, our poppies are not for producing anything but a beautifull landscape. Unless you want to go to prison!

No "e" in poppy. Yes, you can grow them. They are a crinkly leaf poppy, maybe people think they are especially pretty. I dunno. Growing for ornamental purposes is one thing, to try to extract opium from them.............that's illegal and just too difficult. Getting the seeds to germinate off a bagel.....forget it, they've been toasted. You'll have to find a fresh source for the seed.........and that's more difficult.
