If the paint is coming off in chips, then there's a problem between the two paint layers. You need to go to a real paint store and talk to them.

If the paint is just wearing away as you scrub, it's the type of paint used........not one that will withstand much scrubbing. Different paint grades for different needs.

There's also a problem called burnishing when you scrub too hard and the wall becomes "shiney" in spots. To avoid this, use the least pressure, the right cleaner, rinse and dry with very absorbent material......even facial tissue. Obviously you aren't going to do a whole wall and dry with facial tissue....but for spot work, it's fine.

black scuff marks may not come off. Use a basic household cleaner like Simple Green, if it doesn't come of without out rubbing to hard, then it probably won't, and you'll just burnish the paint. you could try touching it up and depending the paint, the color etc you may see the touch ups.

Those Mr. Clean magic rubs work great and they do not take the paint off the wall. I don't know if it will work in your case but you can buy 2 in a box at Walmart for under $3.00. I love them and they work well...

Here you are a good old fashioned trick, use the white of the dough from your bread, squash it into a ball then rub the marks. this act´s like a rubber it will lift the marks of without scratching or damaging the wall
