I have 2001 ford focus and it just recently started running funny when I am stoped or slowing down, it will run rough and then even die completely.. it starts right back up.. any ideas of what the problem could be..

i agree with raybbies. my guess is that the wire set is worn. This is one way to check: get a spray bottle, fill it with water. At night, open up the hood, start the car, and spray it at the wire set (ignition cables). If you see sparks, then the wire set is not properly insulated any more. They need to be replaced. These wire sets should last 45,000 to 100,000 miles. I would also replace the plugs at the same time.

This happened to a friend's Mits. One of the Bosch plat plugs was missing its head (disintegrated - heard this is the result of a fuel injector cleaner, but not sure). replaced with autolite plat. works great. but car kept dying when stopping/slowing. turned out to be wire set.

Idle Air Control Motor.

It sounds like the idle air control is giving you problems. Since you didn't mention that the yellow "check engine " light is on, it eliminates computer related problems. Have the throttle body serviced which should take care of the problem.

Wifes Ford fiesta did that ok We replaced the lead wires that feed the plugs////////The leads were shorting out and not supplying the plugs with a spark .

Chances are it is your fuel filter. Easy to change. Smile and they guy at the parts store will do it for you.
