I'm thinking of going for a certificate in financial management before obtaining the degree. I was wondering if the certificate would help me get a better job or pay?

It wont help. Even an associate degree wont help. Most of all professional jobs require a minimum of a bachelor degree.

Speaking as a college professor with both degrees in some fields and certificates in others, let me say that the benefit to earning a certificate is that you acquire additional skills and training you didn't have before.

In other words, you learned something new! And in the working world, that's always a good thing. Why? Because employers want more skilled employees and it shows you're trainable.

I can't be too sure since I don't have a certificate. But I do think that it would give you more options in your field than someone without a degree or certification. Plus its a good thing to put on your resume.

A certificate can help you get a very basic job in the field, but it probably won't get you anything more than something like a clerk, and at that it will be a low wage regular job.

A certificate can complete a degree. I got my degrees and my masters from the University but if there is any trainings that can complete my knowledge in what ever field I am I will take it but the university or college degree takes you further in life. I can not garantee that you will make more money but it will take you frther in your profession.
