First grade.

Seriously, you need to think big picture rather than just thinking about "what grade levels will colleges see?"

Studying hard for grades and setting a strategy for growth and success doesn't just happen overnight. Applying yourself now, and developing that attitude and those effective skills of time management, discipline, etc. are what will make it possible to "get the good grades" later.

There is much to be said for the matter of personal pride and personal determination as an indicator of both satisfaction and success. Look at this this way. You NEVER know who is watching and thinking about your potential and what they might be able and willing to do for you if they see an earnest and hardworking person who's making the most of each opportunity.

It might be now, it might be later, but those people watching you could be key to some of the things that will affect the rest of your life, and grades is truthfully a very, very tiny part of that.

Even more importantly, who cares if someone else is watching? Are you proud of yourself and proud of your achievements? Can you say you are working to the best of your ability? If not, then you are an impediment to your own success and I wouldn't want to go to sleep at night thinking negative or disappointed thoughts about myself. That'll wear you down too.

Gentle suggestion. You might start with spelling and writing skills. Good luck!

Honestly, it depends on the person. If you are really smart and school comes easy to you, you might want to enlist in harder classes and begin studying right away. Some people should really put the time in around 5th or 6th grade. This will pave the way through Middle School and into High School.

If you wait to figure out how to study correctly until 9th grade, you are making it alot harder on yourself.

The 4 years of highschool (9-12) are the years that matter alot. But you should definitely start working hard now, and work hard so you get in the habit to keep doing well through highschool. Also if you work now, you'll know if your going to be ready to take the AP courses and Honors courses offerd at your highschool =). Good Luck!

It has already begun. You need to begin studying hard in 1st grade, don't wait. You think school is just some sort of joke? IT'S NOT!

For God's sake, grow up and take it seriously.

Start now. Get into the habit of studying and getting good grades. When you get to high school, you're going to want to flaunt your all A's. Don't listen to anyone when they say grades aren't important.

Ideally you should take it seriously no matter what. You develop good study habits that way.

Now that I'm done sounding like a parent, 9th grade is a good time to be "really really serious"

9th grade and up is what colleges looks at, but start studying now to establish those good habits so it won't be as hard for you in high school.

Seventh grade is pretty much where it starts...After 6th grade the babying is over and each year becomes harder and builds on the last, so stay focused and keep up.

You should always take it seriously (kinda lame coming from me) but in most places it is ninth grade or your freshman year of high school.

u should take studying seriously in 6th grade because your in middle school and its not as easy as elementary school believe me I'm in middle school 6th grade. And in collage its very impotent to study because it is much much harder than middle, high, and elementary school. believe me.
