Does anyone know how to induce labor at home naturally and safely? I am being induced next week if I dont go into labor this week. I am not dilated at all and I really dont want to be induced. Any help is appreciated.

its not safe to do so at home. if the DR feels you need to be induced, you should be induced under their care. When inducing, things can change and go wrong and you need to be monitored...

To try to bring on your own... have sex (if you are allowed to) sperm has a component in it that can soften your cervix, or go for a good walk... just becareful

(edited to add... NEVER TAKE ANYTHING - over the counter drugs, home remedies... these are not proven safe)

Sex reportedly induces labour. Nipple stimulation also encourages the uterus to contract, but you've got to do it for several minutes at a time. As well, some recommend castor oil.

If you are not comfortable being induced, you can say no. Ask for tests to show whether there are issues with the placenta - which is the only reason they should induce. It's true that there are risks to induction, including a higher rate of cesarean. Unless you are at least 2 weeks overdue, I would refuse it.

Well, I despised being preg. so I def. know the answer to this. Google it, I'm sure you will come up with loads.
Castor oil, incredibly messy, but I think the convulsions in your stomach is what triggers labor
Nipple stimulation
Sex
Hot raspberry tea
Blue cohosh (available at GNC)

I tried almost all of these, and I still had to be induced, so good luck!

I could give you a list of things to do like most people....

sex
walk
move furniture
crawl
soak in a warm bath (no soap or bath salts)
more sex
drink hot raspberry tea
soak in hot water and lavender

but what really worked for me was cleaning/nesting. I was constantly on my feet moving things, washing clothes, sweeping, washing dishes, etc. and the night before my due date, I took a shower for about 20 mins and then made love to my fiance and within hours I was pregnant. Not all things work for everyone so find something that works for you and do it.

sex, sex and more sex. It worked within 45 minutes for me. That's proven the most effective, but others suggest taking a long walk and eating spicy foods

All I ever see on these home induction posts are ppl recommending CASTROL oil...why is that? CASTROL oil goes in your cars' engine NOT YOUR BELLY. I know they mean CASTOR oil but it's very irritating to me b/c someone else may not know that and actually follow their BAD advice. Please if you are going to post answers in here at least be knowledgable enough to know the differences, and not tell someone to drink MOTOR OIL. And yes I'm talking about you babyyapi...this time...

Having sexual intercourse helps kick start it... You can also walk or jog (if you still can)
