I am 26 weeks pregnant. We already have a 10 year old.

Of late it doesn't seem like we spend any time together as a family like we use to only a year ago.

Today for example I had grand plans of doing the grocery shopping together and then having a picnic in the park so that my daughter could ride her bike around and feed the ducks, but it's gone wrong again and my daughter got straight on the phone and computer, then my husband leaves half way through breakfast to shop on his own. I know it sounds stupid, but we use to love shopping together , it was our Saturday ritual.

I am now stuck here again.

I don't know if it's hormones and or am I in a panic because i'm worried that everyones too caught up doing there own thing to be a family for this new baby?

Don't worry about it. Sometimes people get so caught up in their own things. Once the baby comes it will be a different story. Everyone will want to be around each other all the time, so much that you will probably be screaming for some alone time. Hang in there and try not to stress. Go get a great book and have a relaxing time to yourself.

I know exactly how you feel, my family is the same way. I suspect that hormones has a significant role in how you are feeling and you just want that togetherness and family time. And maybe as you see that everyone separates & does their own thing and doesn't have a longing to do anything together makes you wonder if they'd remain doing the same thing once the baby arrives.

Don't worry, I'm sure that once your beautiful baby arrives everyone will be just as excited as you are and can't wait to get to know the little one. I'm sure things would be much different then.

Well probably hormones are playing a role but you also at a child who is at the age where they naturally start to pull away from the family and become more involved w the peers. I cant speak for your husband but maybe he thought since clearly the 10 year old had other plans that changed your plan.
I am sure when the baby comes your older child will come around but remember she is a "tween" so don't expect her to be overly interested in a sibling 10 years younger than her.

I think part of you feeling this way is hormones, try to change your saturday ritual, your daughter at 10 years old should not have to spend much time on the phone nor in the computer. Ask your daughter to teach you the computer (even if you know how) or a computer game. Ask them to go for a walk and get ice-cream or just rent a movie and watch it together.

talk with your husband and let him know how you feel, he might not realize it's affecting you. Then as parents, talk to your daughter, why not talk to her and find out if her interests has changed and maybe find something all of you can do together?

My family went through that when I was young, we used to go to McDonalds every Saturday and then shopping. Then we hit age of 10 or 11 and we outgrown the McDonalds stage. We then instead went to the park to ride the ponies =). What you want is family time, maybe just need to try something different.

I felt the same way as you do. I think it might just be the hormones of the second preg. I felt so sad all the time, like my husband never want to see me. I cant explain it, I always thought it was him but now that I am not preg. I kinda see it was prob. me
