Of course you can, they are still the same type of fish they just have different tail variations. I personally wouldn't though, it would be like having a poodle and a pug breed, all you will end up with is a bunch of mutts.

If by type you mean color then absolutely, this is done all the time to get the different colorations. If you're talking fin types (crown tail and veil tail) then yes, they'll breed because they're the same species but I'm not really sure what you'll get in the end. As far as crossbreeding species (splendens with something else) I don't know if it will work or not, someone else will have to answer that.

but i DO suggest that whatever you breed
make the male and female somewhat the same color?
they will be attracted to each other more

yes just dont put two of the same gender in the same bowl or they will fight

dont put a male and male together or a female and femae together.u can put a female and a male together.but if they fight then quickly take them out.
