A paint was a very prized horse amongst many American Native tribes AND those languages seems to have the most colorful names with great meaning for example:
ALSOOMSE: Algonquin name meaning "independent."
ENOLA: solitary
HEHEWUTI: Hopi name meaning "warrior mother spirit."
KIMI: Algonquin name meaning "secret."
MANSI: Hopi name meaning "plucked flower."
NUTTAH: Algonquin name meaning "my heart."
SANUYE: Miwok name meaning " red cloud at sundown."
SITALA: Miwok name meaning " of good memory."
TIPONI: Hopi name meaning " child of importance."
UNA: Hopi name meaning " remember."
SHIMA: Navajo name meaning " mother."
WAKANDA: Sioux name meaning " possesses magical power."
These are some from babyname lists; however you may want to research a little into native american languages before actually deciding.
Katie's Pride is also a good one.
Makes Mother Proud - would be a racing horse's dream.

When I was a kid growing up on the farm, I had a paint. I called him Champ.
He was a beautiful animal and quite a character. He lived to be 33 years old.
He lived up to his name in every way.

Well i looked online for Indian names for kaite's orphan or kaite's son and i had no luck. but some names i like are colton, kanue, kaite's wish, kaite's miracle, kaite's shadow, and kaite's whisper. kaite's shadow i like the best so you can call him shadow. but i am sorry for your lost it is hard to lose an animal you love dearly.
p.s. It is you decision because we don't know what he looks like although you did give a good description. good luck.
