While running errands today, I saw at least 3 different shoes while driving down the highway.

That is a very good question. I see that all the time. I am guessing it could be high school kids who either
A) Want new shoes so they throw away one shoe so parent has to buy new ones
or
B) One shoe drops out of a gym bag when the kids aren't aware.

Often wondered this myself. I always see just one shoe a long side the road but that shoe must have a story.

Why do we assume that the shoes came from a car and not an airplane? I always take my shoes off when I'm on a plane.

My pet theories are that the lone shoes fall from garbage trucks, or are carried around by animals...or maybe it's the same phenomenon that engulfs socks in the dryer.

Sorry about that - I keep meaning to go back and get them. There is a mouse that lives in my car, and I keep throwing the handiest thing (my shoe) at it, but I have crappy aim and keep forgetting the window is down!

I ALWAYS wonder this!! I see a sneaker here, a black shoe there, it's unbelievable! You'd think if somehow your shoe fell out the window, you'd go back and retrieve it!!

Maybe they had to drive with their foot and lost it out the window... LOL!!! I don't know, I see shows on the road, and hanging from telephone lines a lot.
