An intranet is the private network of an organization - as opposed to the internet which is the public network.

You can publish things on the intranet that you want other people in your company to see, but no one else.

its like an internal network like the internet only it viewable only to people connected to the network, for example a company may have intranet so that people within the companys network can use infomation but you cant view it from the internet
