Why do you tip?

i work in the restraunt buissness and trust me if you go someplace and don't tip don't go back you really don't want to know what people do to your food and if someone is a good waitperson why not......lol i just thought of a funny story , this guy that used to come into the place i work left his cell phone there one day , he would come in be a pain in the *** and then not tip, it was a newer blackberry i believe and anyways he left it and came back 20 minutes later frantic looking for it I told him that we hadn't seen it and later that night threw it out ....thats what happens to people that don't tip

I worked for a while as a waitress recently...the starting wage was $2.50 an hour. If not for tips I'd have starved. Of course I gave good service and prided myself on doing the best job possible.

waitress's make minium wage or less they depend on tips to make a living. Quit being a miser and tip the lady

A lot of those people live off their tips. Pay checks arn't good for waiters. I've been there, it sucks. A lot of times that $5 buys dinner {ramen noodles}

Plus good service deserves a good tip!

Because the service was good. They worked extra hard to make you feel welcome. I tip my piercer because he did a great job piercing me, I tip the waiter because he was pleasant, and the food was good, I tip the housekeeper at the hotel because the room was nice and clean.

People go out their way and work hard for customer satisfaction, and it should be appreciated, a tip to me is like saying "thank you for your hard work"
