Because we do not stand up and demand that they tell us more of what they do. If you vote out ones that do not ans we you then you would get one in office that would tell you.

Lets be realistic here, if the government had to check with us every time they tried to do some thing nothing would ever get done. As the public as a whole we do not know what is best for us in many of the things that they are making decisions on. We elected them so we have have to have some degree of trust in what they are doing, Although that is not to say that we should be kept in the dark just that we need them to make decisions and be accountable for them.

That's why we have elections. if we were told every thing our government was up to, our enemies would know everything before hand, does your wife , husband, child, mother, father tell you everything??. I have been married for 41 years & my wife does not tell me every thing she does all day. I dont tell her about my posting on QA. We all need our little secrets. That includes the goverment.

They don't want to read about it here on Yahoo Answers as most can't keep their mouths shut, or understand complex concepts

Besides the government is US in case you didn't realize that fact. Why not ask the government instead of asking here?

Somethings you can't be told in the name of national security. You elect your representatives to see that your tax money is spent correctly. Use you phone, fax, or email if you are unhappy and let them know.

Based on some of the drivel I have seen posted here, I wouldn't trust a lot of people to know what planet they are on, much less "what's best for us".

"National Security" lol good one. They don't tell the people because of the outrage and massive opposition and exposure it would create. Simple as that, but I think deep down even the people who think it is for NS still know the truth, those are just the little lies they tell themselves to create false normality in their lives.
