Not in Illinois, but if you are in the southern half of the state Six Flags Over Mid-America outside of St. Louis, MO is closer to get to than Great America which is north of Chicago.

As for carnival rides, I'd say Great America........because that is the only one we have here. But for a place to go and have a good time, I'd say Navy Pier. They have different things to do every weekend just about. It is especially fun in the summer, when you can walk around outside as well as inside. The Speed Dog speed boat ride around Lake Michigan is really fun. They also have a really really big Ferris wheel. In the summer, they have a nice firework show every night.

Six Flags in Chicago..they also have a waterpark Hurricane Harbor attached to it . The waterpark is only a few years old.

I would say six flags great america. For as much as six flags as a corporation is horrible, that park is pretty fun.

Whoever said Kiddie Land was obviously trying to trick you! Kiddie Land is really run down with lots of little wannabe gangbangers. Six flags is pretty cool if you've never been there. But there are many six flags across the U.S. If you've been to one, you've been to them all in my opinion.
